Vessels and Nerves of the Lower Limb
The study of the lower limb includes many layers of anatomical knowledge: blood vessels, lymphatic vessels and nodes, nerves and of course their mutual relations. This study guide was created with the intention of making this process easier, more accessible, offering students a structural framework that leads them through the systematic anatomy, topographic anatomy and the clinical relevance of this knowledge.
The texbook provides systematic and topographic view at the lower limb.
The first part presents the vessels and nerves sytematicallyone by one, with explanation of their course and function and with important clinical notes.
The second part provides topographic aproach to the lower limb, showing how the vessels and nerves and muscles come together within the anatomical regions and spaces.
The final chapter contains the review questions, that allow students to assess their understanding of the key topics.
Vessels and Nerves of the Upper Limb
This textbook follows the previously published Study Guide: Bones, joints, and muscles of the upper and lower limbs, and together they provide a comprehensive overview of the musculoskeletal and neurovascular systems of the upper limb. A separate textbook, Vessels and nerves of the lower limb: systematic and topographic anatomy with clinical notes, offers a complete account of the neurovascular anatomy of the lower limb, ensuring that each region can be studied in sufficient detail and clarity.
Patophysiology of blood and lymph circulation in lower extremities
Arterial system of lower extremities. Principles of blood flow. Endothelium. Endothelial vasodilators. Endothelial dysfunction. Atherosclerosis obliterans Risk factors. Arterial aneurysms. Vasospastic diseases. Raynaud disease. Occlusive arterial disease. Blood flow in veins – lower extremities. Venous system of lover extremities. Symptoms and signs of DVT. Lymphedema.
Bones, joints and muscles of the upper and lower limbs study guide
The main purpose of the study guide is to provide a basic educational material for the study of the bones, joints and muscles of the upper and lower limb. The text is enriched by the figures of the dry human bones - photographs of the bony preparations used during the anatomy practicals in our Department of Anatomy. Figures of the joints, ligaments and muscles are retrieved from public domein of Gray´s Anatomy of human Body (1918). Althought the study guide contains the photos and figures, it is necessary to use this study material in association with any human anatomy atlas (Sobotta´s, Gray´s, Gilroy´s or Netter´s atlas of human anatomy). The study guide offers the possibility to test the obtained knowledge by a set of review questions at the last chapter.
